Keeping a volatility journal that you will still open next month
Tags, ranges, and restraint — journal fields that survive after the intensive ends.
Journals die when every column demands essay-length confession. After ATR intensives we recommend a short, repeatable set of fields: date, instrument, timeframe, ATR value and lookback, regime tag (quiet / normal / expanded), stop multiple used, and one sentence on whether price behaviour matched the tag by session close.
That is enough to audit consistency. Optional fields — news flags, emotion scores — come later if the core set is already filled for twenty sessions in a row.
Students sometimes add screenshots for every bar. Screenshots help in coaching reviews, yet they can replace thought if they become the whole habit. A middle path: attach an image only when the regime tag changed or when a stop was moved.
If you return to Orchestrateml for a check-in, bring the journal, not a reconstructed memory of how disciplined you felt. The pages will show whether ATR analysis remained a practice or slipped back into decoration on the chart.
